Compania Ford a prezentat noua generaţie a SUV-ului full-size Expedition. Datorită folosirii pe larg a unor elemente din aluminiu pentru construcţia caroseriei, dar şi a unei rame făcute din oţel dur, maşina a devenit mai uşoară cu 136 de kilograme comparativ cu predecesorul său.

În mişcare, noul Ford Expedition va fi pus de un propulsor modernizat de 3.5 litri din familia EcoBoost. Acest agregat, a cărui putere nu a fost anunţată deocamdată, este cuplat la o transmisie automată cu 10 trepte.

Anterior, modelul Expedition era disponibil de asemenea cu un motor de 3.5 litri, dar cuplat la o cutie automată cu şase trepte.

Pentru unele versiuni ale modelului va fi disponibil un sistem de tracţiune integrală cu un diferenţial cu alunecare limitată controlat electronic. Masa remorcii pe care o poate tracta poate ajunge până la 4.173 kilograme.

Maşina de teren de generaţie nouă s-a mai ales cu peste 40 de asistenţi electronici şi sisteme de siguranţă. În mare parte este vorba despre un sistem de supraveghere video la 360 de grade, sistem de menţinere a maşinii în bandă şi de monitorizare a traficului, cruise control adaptiv, sistem de supraveghere a unghiurilor moarte, sistem anticoliziune frontală, etc.

Printre noile dotările pe care le are Ford Expedition 2018 se mai numără un sistem de reîncărcare a telefoanelor mobile prin inducţie electromagnetică, sistem multimedia pentru pasagerii de pe rândul al doilea de scaune, sistem multimedia SYNC 3 cu suport Apple CarPlay şi Andorid Auto, şase porturi USB, sistem audio B&O cu 12 difuzoare şi un acoperiş panoramic.

Habitaclul poate adăposti uşor până la opt pasageri. Pentru un acces mai uşor la ultimul rând de scaune, cele de pe al doilea pot fi mişcate înainte sau înapoi.

Producţia lui Ford Expedition de generaţie nouă va avea loc la uzina mărcii din oraşul Louisville. Vânzările vor începe toamna.
